A few things to know before ordering

No instructions were included and I can't find any online. Hope to get some tomorrow. Instructions found on the bottom of the styrofoam. Everything seems to be working as it should, but keep in mind that you will either need to make a brake rod on the drill press to get the head to stop, or replace the .3125 inch rod on the head that the Brake rod touches drill string to stop machine. Also, Harbor Freight drill presses use a JT3 chuck, so you need a JT3-JT6 mandrel and AccuSize doesn't stock them. As far as I can tell there are no JT6 mandrels for JT3. I'm very close to returning this because it's useless without that thorn. The solution is the JT6 straight shank mandrel, where the straight shank fits into the drill block. However, the JT6 mandrel (by Jacobs) does not remain at the top of the JT6 socket hole. As soon as it starts spinning, it falls out. I cleaned the ends of the JT6 male and female connector with acetone and hammered the mandrel into the threaded head with a rubber mallet. The included JT6 end rods indicate some dimensional issues with the JT6 hole in the head thread. If you have a drill press with a chuck cone compatible with the mandrel provided (MT2 or MT4) this may work well. For me, this is a reminder to buy more expensive heads.

Pros
  • Guaranteed depth control; Within ±0.004 inch
Cons
  • Very expensive
