Review on 🐈 Smart Scoop Self-Cleaning Litter Box by Pet Zone - No Expensive Refills, Easy Waste Disposal for Cats, Compatible with Clumping Cat Litter by Dawn Campos

I've tried 3 casts in this box and ONE of them works way better than the others. The first litter I tried was Petco's self-service clumping litter. The problem is that it's so heavy you have to put such a small amount of urine in the SmartScoop bowl that the urine runs down and sticks to the bottom of the machine before it's scooped up. This results in stray clumps of urine that are never collected and remain in the box until you throw it away and wash it. Finally, I tried "Cat's Pride Fresh and Light Premium Clamping Fragrance Scoopable Cat Litter" - and the only place I found it was here at Revain. It has very small and light granules that the SmartScoop comb can easily pass, meaning nothing moves, and you can actually fill this container with MORE filler than recommended. It doesn't work with more urine in the box and it sticks to the floor. ALSO other fillers tend to be squeezed out to the bottom of the box after a few scooping cycles, resulting over time in a thin layer of filler on one half of the tray and a doubling of the coating thickness on the other half. In Cat's Price Fresh and Light litter, the much smaller granules move easily through the comb and don't fall off the end of the bowl. It is expected to take about 10 days for the trash can to be full. I only do this for hygiene reasons. The design seems good, and while the engine was never completely shut off to the point where auto-reverse kicks in, I'm hoping there will be a dual-engine option in the future. Sometimes the power of one engine on one side is barely enough to complete a row of blades. I believe this can be more of a problem in multi-cat households or for people who don't know how to use that other litter box. Update 11/10/2019: Still using this tray after 4 years. I found the non-clumping Ultra Pet Micro Crystals cat litter to be a great option for this unit. This prevents the smell of urine. Ultra Pet Crystal Pearls also work but are a bit stiffer on my cat paws. NON-CLUMPING crystalline filler is what I have used for the last 2 years.
