Review on Salomon Athletic Water Shoes Hiking Grape Shadow Men's Shoes by Christopher Hicks

Revainrating 2 out of 5

No So Impressive is the best in my rating

Bought two pairs after reading many reviews, both positive and negative. Most reviews are positive. My review will not be positive, and I'm not entirely sure if positive reviews can come from those who don't just wear them as casual shoes. I was fascinated by the lacing system because I have arthritis in my hands. Actually, the lacing system works pretty well for me. The rest of the shoe isn't that impressive. After a few weeks of use, the fabric started to peel off when walking in the places where the shoes bent. A month later, the sole breaks just behind the arch of the shoe. Six months later I use them to slide on my feet to take out the trash - that's it. I'm 64 years old, so I can't call myself a super athlete at this point in my life. All my life I've had New Balance, Adidas, Nike, Asics and other brands of athletic shoes, but I've never had a pair that gave up as quickly as these Salomons. I used to have Salomon boots that worked really well. I think maybe the quality of the brand isn't what it used to be. I can't imagine the Army Rangers and Navy SEALs who boasted about these boots getting any durability out of these boots.

Pros
  • I have an arch problem on my left foot and this shoe is one of the few that are comfortable to wear.
Cons
  • Insufficient cushioning
