My sink faucet does not have a smooth surface (it's a shower head) so it doesn't make good contact with the fill button. So I ordered this primer. It worked great. Both filters were filled and ready to use in about 15 minutes. Another advantage of having it on hand is that it works without running water (in case of emergency, etc.). Putting the primer together can be tricky and the instructions aren't very good. I watched a YouTube video explaining how to assemble it (link at the bottom of this review). Here's what you need to know when assembling the capsule. The parts consist of: 1 bulb with different sized holes on each end, 2 identical plastic tubes, 2 identical "valves", 1 hex nut and 1 single "corner". (This is where water comes out of the primer). The small parts of the "valve" (2) have a smooth side and a ribbed side. They need to be attached in a specific way for the pump to work properly. If you work from left to right, all the pieces will fit together. I put them in order, then first assembled the tube sections and last connected to the bulb: hex nut > tube > plain end of valve A into tube > finned end of valve A into BIG hole in bulb > plain end of valve B in the smaller hole in the piston > ribbed end of valve B into the 2nd tube > elbow into the 2nd tube. Take a container deep enough to completely submerge the filter and fill it with water. Screw the hex nut into the filter and place the filter in water (at first it will try to float as it is filled with air). Don't worry about it getting completely submerged when pumping as it will gradually sink as it fills with water. Start pumping. It took me about five or six minutes to complete the filling. First some water came out and then just air for a while. Halfway through I noticed that there was a problem with the suction (it took a long time for the bulb to "re-inflate" so I made sure there was a bit of the filter above the water and loosened the hex nut a bit and it worked At this point it didn't create 100% vacuum but it worked and I was able to fill the filters The filter worked great however so I still give it five stars I got the hex nut in the tube but it did only took a few minutes the capsule comes unassembled as you can change the direction of rotation valves if you want to remove water from the filter here is a link to a youtube video of the assembly that helped me:[. ]if If the link does not appear in this review, there is a YouTube video titled: Using the Black Berkey Primer Part 2
