The best selection of accessories and parts

My VW Touareg is 8 years old. One of its TPMS sensors has failed but the other 3 are working fine. I read and found out that the non-replaceable batteries in these sensors last about 7 years so all 4 had to be replaced. Since the sensor is installed inside the tire, you should ideally replace the sensors the next time you buy a new set of tires. In this case, the original tires were also available for replacement. To do this without going broke, I first bought a set of 4 sensors from Revain for only $82. Compare that to $250 or $1,000 for an OEM sensor kit. Yes, a thousand dollars. I checked out Mobiltron and they have a good website with details so I was sure they would suit me. And great price! A set of 4 aftermarket sensors can cost double or more. Then I went to discount tires. They matched the price of the tyres, the same price as Sams Club which is also good because the Sams store was closed due to the coronavirus and I need a store that can honor my warranty anywhere on my trip. UNITED STATES. They agreed to install the sensors I provided, which is nice because they charged me about $55 per sensor for a similar aftermarket sensor PLUS. However, there is no additional fitting fee when fitting with a new set of tyres. Note that many stores charge an additional $5 per tire for TPMS installation. These sensors were easy for the installer to activate. Basically, they are pre-activated, so the store just had to check that they were providing a good signal. Then while charging I noticed the warning light was on and the gauges were not reporting any pressure. What? They explained to me that I only have to drive a few kilometers and the computer "learns" from these sensors. Of course, after a mile ride, all 4 sensors report pressure. So, to recap: BUY THESE SENSORS. They are inexpensive and work great on my VW Touareg. If 1 or 2 of your existing sensors are bad, don't worry, just replace all 4 with a new set of tires. I hope they last at least 7 years and that's probably how long my tires will last. And don't be afraid to ask your installer if they will install the TPMS sensors you provide. You'll save $100-$200 on a set. Take it to the bank.
