This is an edited review I used to do. the change is my judgment and comment on the design. My filter started dripping at the connection entry point. The elbow that screws into the bottom of the canister is simply a threaded piece of plastic with an O-ring in the bottom; it continued to drip even though I checked for tightness. I opened up the cabinet this morning and saw that the deep grill I keep the filter in (just in case!) now has 3 inches of water in it (to the brim). Turned it off, unplugged and drained the water, put the filter over the sink and opened it up. The built-in threaded plastic housing is cracked, which has prevented the manifold assembly from sealing properly. Thus, the ability of this entire block to hold water under a certain pressure depends on the integrity of the threaded connection in the plastic elbow and the strength of the internally threaded part in the canister. This does not detract from the excellent performance of the filter, everything I said before was true. But I was very disappointed to see (and suffer) such a crappy design. A more secure design might include a nut on the inside of the canister that could push the joint more tightly against the canister without applying torque to the body itself. I had Eheim a few years ago and it was great, and having recently taken an interest in the aquarium again I had no hesitation in returning to Eheim. I have a 24 gallon cubic tank that is heavily filled with CO2 so I chose the 2213 which is rated for tanks up to 66 gallons. I used the stuff in the filter can instead of all the sponges that are sold separately because that's what I'm used to. That gives me more flexibility. The filter is almost silent, mine sits right next to our TV and I hear nothing but a slight movement of the water in the tank. Filter quietly. The water is crystal clear and the current is perfect for my aquarium. The atomizer is mounted horizontally on one side about 3 cm below the surface and slightly tilted up without disturbing the surface, the water inlet is on the opposite side in the back corner. . The supplied double taps make it easy to switch off for cleaning. This size is perfect for my 24 gallon but I would say I wouldn't use it for anything larger in my opinion. You could probably go as high as 30 gallons, but I'd recommend 2215 for anything in the 25-50 gallon range; Same great filter, just a little more flow.
