Review on Saucony Womens Freedom Running Medium Women's Shoes ~ Athletic by Kelly Caballes

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good soft shoes, but the size runs larger when ordering!

I've been running Saucony shoes for many, many years, starting with Cohesion until I switched to Triumph a few years ago. I always use size 7.5M for both models no matter what year and they all fit well. Some of the Cohesion models were a bit smaller, but I was still able to walk in my normal size. Freedom runs about 1/2 size smaller and is also a bit narrower overall. For comparison see the photos comparing it to different Triumph models: Blue & White is the Triumph ISO 4, Stone is the Triumph ISO 5, Black is the new Triumph 17 and Navy/Mint Green is the Triumph ISO 3. All Triumphs -Shoes are 7.5M but Freedom is 8M. I increased the size by 1/2 based on the reviews and I'm glad I did. I've also waited until the end of the day to try them on when they say my feet are "biggest". I usually wear the Balega Hidden Comfort Soft Socks when I run, but I've tried the Freedom with the Hidden Contour version. The landing was tight, but not tight. I still have the width of my thumbnail from the tip of my toe. If I plan to run anything over 6 miles in them I would probably change them to 8.5M just to be sure. Or maybe even 7.5 or 8 wide! By the way, the shoe has good cushioning, but it is not as soft as the Triumph. I bought them mainly because of the 4mm drop, so I always have them with me. Bottom line: I highly recommend going at least a half size down from your regular Saucony size. For example, if you normally wear a size 7.5 in another version of Saucony, try an 8. I can only speak for Triumph and Cohesion, but I'd predict they're smaller than most other styles.
