Strong magnets hold heavy knives in place. It's wide but not too deep, so you can place it in the kitchen where it doesn't get in the way of other things. I have it in the center of my kitchen island. Prevents blades from rubbing against each other and becoming dull. Good suction power that provides stability when gripping the knife. Very happy with the product. I just wish there was a hole in the top to place the steel on top of because of the steel's round shape and weight it doesn't want to stick to it.
