I needed a hat for sun protection while driving and walking across the parking lot. Boonie hats or wide brimmed hats bump up against the car's head rest and are generally annoying to drive in, plus they can block visibility. This hat is perfect because the back lies flat so it doesn't rub or bump against the headrest, but the fabric flaps still shade your neck. The front brim is nice and wide so your face gets better shade than just from a ball cap. And when I take it off my hair is not all messy or frizzy, which is important.Be aware this is no fashion statement and looks a bit silly on. The fabric itself is very thin and light, which is good for a hot climate (I still wear sunscreen lotion underneath it). The solid versions (khaki, navy and black) coordinate nicely with any outfit. For the price and what I use it for, it's perfect!
