The moment the needle moves from the neutral position, the needle moves, reducing the chance of the needle getting stuck when crossing a hole or gap. The dial has perfect friction that can be reset easily without moving the entire display when the stylus is on the part. The pen is long, which is good, which is bad. It can get into spots, but it can also add leverage so it breaks off on impact. Let's hope I don't find out. UPDATE: 11/05/18 and still valid. It is used 10 to 20 times a day, 5 days a week. The thing is like new. This is not a toy.
