This is a pretty neat design and it still works well. You press the button once and the quick release releases a little to deflate your tool. Press the button a second time and the Quick Connect will appear. When you insert the quick connector to reconnect, make sure you insert it all the way (insert it all the way and you will hear a series of two clicks confirming correct installation). If you're playing with this on your desktop with no air pressure, you'll need to press the button lightly when inserting the quick connector for the second stage seal to work properly. Note that this is physically larger than many other quick connectors. separates - the overall length of the "male" version is just over 3 inches, and the "female" version is just over 2.75 inches. So I'd probably recommend using them with a rotating quick release if you're using that directly on your instrument. The physical construction seems solid enough for home use (and maybe light professional use). The body is made of plastic, but that's extremely strong plastic. I don't know what polymer it is, but it's much stronger than most tooling plastics today. I'm guessing it's a very heavy glass filled nylon, but it should be a lot more than the standard 30% because it's a lot stronger than any PA6-GF30 I've used in the past. Kou didn't disassemble the Pler because I avoid disassembling things under spring pressure (although it looks like you can disassemble it by using a wrench on one end and a wrench on the other). I noticed a plastic ball bearing in one end of the unit - I'm not sure of the internal mechanism so I can't say what function this bearing serves and how much wear and tear it will take. At the other end are some o-rings/seals that can be swapped out if you can match them up and find the right replacement size/shape.
