Review on ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming Motherboard by Micha Bukowski (Pax) ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not a bad product, but I expected a little more.

General impressions of the board are contradictory. There are no complaints about the hardware, but the BIOS is complete darkness. Configuration: Ryzen 5 3600 ASUS ROG STRIX x570 Gaming NVMe M2 Crucial 1000gb DDR4 G. Skill Trident-Z 3600 MHz CL 16 Cooler Noktua NH-D15 So, the system starts fine by default. I could not immediately set the XMP profile, the BIOS does not allow this. Downloaded and installed the latest AGESA 1.0.0.4, useless. It turns out that in the BIOS there is a submenu by pressing the F11 key, where you need to specify that you use the computer not as a regular PC, but as a gaming one, as if such a motherboard was bought for an office computer! After that, the system started on the XMP profile, but then it turned out that the CPU Ratio was set to x38 by default, so the processor clock speed was fixed at 3.800 MHz. It was impossible to come to terms with this, I set AUTO to make BOOST work, and the system again does not start with the XMP profile. I had to download the AMD calculator, count and set all the timings manually, as well as the voltage. The system is stable, the memory is 3600 Cl 16-16-16-32, the percent boosts up to 420225 Mhz. I did not manually overclock the percent, I think that it makes no sense. The BIOS reset button does not work. I had to pull out the battery, but this is not ice. Who cares: the board has 4 ports for RGB strips, two for 12v and two for 5V. Those with three pins, those with 5, and those with four, respectively, with 12. There is a polarity, a guideline along the arrow. IMHO, when buying a new and far from cheap product, you don’t want to dance around it with a tambourine at all. I add: ASUS finally finished the BIOS. XMP profile went without problems. Don't forget to set the Windows power plan to High Performance Power plan for AMD.

Pros
  • Powerful power system, two M2 slots with heatsinks
Cons
  • The UEFI reset button does not work, raw and unfinished BIOS. Throttles squeal under load.
