If you have a Humminbird fish finder, you absolutely need this chip. The preloaded maps are decent, don't get me wrong, but the LakeMaster chip is something else entirely. Depths are in 1 foot increments instead of the 5 foot increments of the preloaded map, and the LakeMaster team meticulously displays the lakes on the map chip. You get a MUCH better view of the depth change, the current channels and the river bed. When you get a smartstrike chip you also get a large percentage of the ranges on your sonar for whatever fish you fish be it bass, crappie, catfish etc. At first I thought this might be a bit of an exaggeration but the purchase does Worth doing to maintain chart accuracy, especially if you're on a new lake and unsure of depth changes. Run at 30 mph across a rocky hump in the middle of a lake and you'll appreciate the difference in mapping technology.
