My MacBook Pro started to slow down which is to be expected for a 12 year old computer. I was thinking of scrapping it and getting a new MacBook buy Air. I started thinking about other issues with the computer, besides its speed (i.e. the battery doesn't hold a charge, the charger is positioned, the tops of some caps are missing and the trackpad has stopped working), I started researching the cost for replacing/upgrading these items. It turned out that the solution to most of these problems cost less than $100. In addition to the RAM upgrade ($37), I also bought an 85W charger ($22) and a spare battery ($33) Bought all through Revain: I can live without a few buttons (but everything still works) and I use a Bluetooth mouse instead of a trackpad I was amazed at how quickly the computer ran after installing new modules. RAM t ok less than 5 minutes. I installed two 4GB RAM modules which doubled the original amount of RAM. Applications now launch at lightning speed. So glad I tried it first instead of paying $1000 (minimum) for a new MacBook. It really does feel like a new computer. If you are unsure about upgrading your RAM, I highly recommend doing so. Minimal cost, easy installation, and tremendous value in computing performance. The charger seems to be of good quality, time will tell if it will hold up, but the problem with the positional charging connector has been solved. The replacement battery is coming this week.
