Two years ago I tested another shaker called the Spider Bottle. I was pleased with the performance of this bottle and did not purchase another shaker bottle until I decided to try this one. I wanted a bottle with a more secure cap on the spout. The Spider bottle closes tightly, but should never be carried on its side. That means if you want to carry it in your gym bag, you need to have a bag with a bottle cage to keep it upright. The Spider bottle's flip cap prevents accidental opening. On the other hand, this Rubbermaid product has a flip-top lid that screws onto the spout. It cannot open by itself. Instead of a spiral metal mount, this Rubbermaid shaker bottle uses a small paddle wheel inside the bottle to mix the powder. The impeller can be removed for cleaning. It doesn't stick to the bottle. In terms of mixing performance, it works just as well as the spiral device in the Spider product. Both bottles are BPA free. The Spider bottle is made out of translucent plastic, while the Rubbermaid is made out of a material called Tritan. I have the 20 ounce model but it also comes in a larger size. do you need a shaker It depends what you want to mix. You don't need a stirrer bottle if you just want to mix or chill your tea. These powders dissolve easily. However, if you want to mix protein shakes, you need a bottle that's specifically designed for the job. Even then you will not dissolve all of the powder. Protein powders just don't dissolve. A part will always remain below. Because protein powders tend to be expensive, it pays to take the time to purchase a bottle with the most efficient mixing mechanism. The Rubbermaid Shaker Bottle is an efficient blender. As effective as the Spider Bottle. More efficient than typical mesh strainers on traditional protein shakers. The wheel works very well. However, I think it should have been a little harder. Some shake mixes will thicken once you start shaking. The lightweight paddlewheel doesn't have enough weight to easily move up and down the bottle as the liquid begins to thicken and resistance increases. In the end it will get the job done, but in my opinion a heavier wheel handles the drag of a thicker fluid much better. However, the Spider Bottle also struggles with thicker cocktails. After all, it does its job, but you have to work at it. To be honest I have yet to try a shaker that can handle those thick cocktails with little effort on your part. Perhaps this task will be facilitated only by an electric mixer. On the other hand, shaking is good exercise! The Rubbermaid shaker bottle is versatile with a screw cap. The hinged lid is firmly screwed to the spout. Therefore, it is not only suitable for the gym. It can be used as a bottle for outdoor, hiking, cycling and camping. You can put the bottle in your lunch box and don't have to worry about the lid popping off. Due to this construction, this bottle is naturally not suitable for one-handed operation. Sometimes you have to choose between safety and comfort. This is a good quality product. The price is reasonable. And it should last a very long time. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a shaker for outdoor use or expect it to double as a drink container to take with you to lunch. However, if all you need is a fitness protein shaker, then a traditional shaker with a friction-lock lid might work just as well and be a little cheaper. is it easy to lose the paddle?"
