This is a good basic jacket. It's light enough not to strain in the transitional weather and keeps my baby toasty as hell even in the coldest part of winter (she's quite a short-tempered baby and tends to overheat). If you have a child who is prone to cold walking, this may not be enough in cold weather. My daughter spent hours playing in the snow in these jacket and winter trousers last winter and now they serve her well on chilly autumn days. I really like the zipped pockets - they come in handy for storing mittens or treasures. Last spring we buttoned our mittens into our pockets, and this fall we didn't have to look for them. It's a nice neutral unisex style if you consider hand wearing when purchasing. It's slightly larger than its other jackets from the brand, which makes it a good complement to bulky sweaters and you can wear it for more than one season too. The elasticated cuffs kept her from swimming in it last winter and she still has room to grow this winter (she's outgrown all her normal clothes and shoes by now).
