When my father died, he left over a hundred slide carousels and his Kodak 760H projector. Unfortunately, when I first started viewing slides a few months ago, his projector didn't even last two days before the slide forward/backward mechanism stopped working. I have since bought two more Kodak projectors (another 760H and an 860H) and both have suffered the same fate. After researching online ("Kodak Slide Projector Buying Guide" by Mark at My-Retro-Electronics was particularly helpful), I found that this problem with slides not moving forward/backward is typical of vintage Projectors like mine is because of the internal gears that rot with age. Needless to say, I was hesitant about buying another vintage Kodak projector (Kodak no longer makes them), but a call to Slide Central's Bill put my mind at ease immediately. He answered all my questions (there are no rotten gears in 4000 series projectors), gave lots of good advice on how to digitize slides myself and assured me that the projector he sent me would meet all my needs. I ordered the projector on Friday and it arrived the same weekend because I was given a free upgrade from standard to expedited shipping without my knowledge. I would recommend Slide Central to everyone.
