We bought these for our Pitty Mix who has no undercoat so her paws bleed easily in the snow with rocks/twigs. It took her a few minutes to get used to them without trying to take them off, but once she was comfortable they seemed to protect her paws pretty well. They stayed for the most part too, but needed an adjustment after a while of walking because they were slow to slip off her paw unless tightened REALLY WELL. They have a nice soft inside to keep their paws warm, but if they accidentally get wet (one fell off after getting caught on a branch) they don't dry quickly inside, leaving you wet for the rest of the day. I would still recommend it as the main purpose is to keep their paws protected and warm which they did.
