but he should probably be able to do without that.

This product was just "ok" in my opinion and seems a bit overpriced for what it does. One inconvenience was that I had to purchase a separate $33 part to have it fully work with my Avaya desk phone, which other competing products I've seen don't require. I could manually press the headset button on my desk phone in combination with the button on the headset itself and that would work, but it looks like it should do without a separate device. The main reason I sent it back was the sound quality. First, it clips the audio pretty badly at any volume setting, which I hate (google "audio clipping" if you don't know what that is). I tried other channels but only channels A and G worked. Also there was a little echo of my voice on both channels which also drives me crazy (although not as much as clipping). I turned the mic gain down so I could still be heard at the other end, but the echo remained. I'm not sure if it should automatically connect to my smartphone after pairing, but it didn't. I don't know why but it didn't really matter to me as I don't plan on using BT too much. The overlay didn't fit perfectly. It is adjustable but still didn't fit as well as my old Plantronics unit which came with 3 sizes of pads. The over-ear piece was decently comfortable, although some padding could have been used on the non-ear-piece. All in all not good enough for me to keep. I am sorry!
