Craftsman sat for years, now works fine!

I have an old Briggs 5HP. (There were no instructions for this.) I didn't have to remove the flywheel, I just cut the wires to the points, leaving only the kill switch wire, installed the coil and adjusted the air gap. I wasn't sure of the exact specs, I used a .020 feeler gauge and so far it's working fine.
