Review on Scrub Daddy Sponge Daddy: Dual Sided Sponge & Scrubber with FlexTexture Technology - Multiuse, Deep Cleaning, Scratch Free - 4ct (Pack of 3) by Greg Case

I've been using them for about a year now. This is an amazing sponge and I really wanted to love it. I've certainly enjoyed using them for the most part. The scrubbing side is amazingly efficient and the sponges clean very easily. The problem, as noted by numerous reviews, is that the sponges don't last long. The plastic part of the mop begins to detach from the sponge very quickly, even with moderate use. In my family there are two adults without a dishwasher. I spend about 10-20 minutes a day washing dishes. At this rate, these sponges last about 3 weeks each on average. Some would go much faster; some would have taken a little longer. That means I threw away a lot of sponges, which seems very wasteful. Throwing them away is bad enough, but as they wear out, they keep shedding bits of plastic sponge. These bits are a nuisance to clean as I often had to scrub the sponge next to eating! But the big problem is that all that plastic goes down the drain in pieces that are too small to be effectively filtered or removed. Our ecosystem is drowning in microplastics and these sponges are an example of the kind of products that make it so much worse. As much as I enjoy using sponges myself most of the time, they are extremely wasteful and not at all eco-friendly.
