Review on Singer 81578 Retractable Tape Measure by Carrie Spencer

just took the time to review the $9 item to maybe save someone some trouble. I chose this particular cassette with the singer because I decided it would fit the price and brand of the singer. Received this morning (and shamrock stamp) and am very disappointed. Terrible quality, poor feel of the mechanism and even the tape surface and markings are surprisingly poor quality. And to make matters worse, the markings on the other side of the tape show through, making matters worse. Really terrible and I'm pretty sure I'll never use it for these reasons. I also bought Clover brand tape which is very good and actually a lot cheaper. Ironically we had an old tape and I had a newfound appreciation for how good it was and how well it held up (Rollfix made in West Germany). Bottom line, I wasted $9 on this singer tape if I had to do it all over again. Again, I definitely wouldn't buy it. I can't understand how Singer wanted to put his name on it.
