Review on πŸ”΅ Blue Swivel Kitchen and Dining Room Chair: Modway Lippa Mid-Century Modern Upholstered Fabric by Ken Reiff

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Chairs are nice in red but always take the bearings apart and oil them before first use if you want them to stand the test of time

The chairs look great and are worth the money BUT: 1. You should only go with red. That's the only good pillow. All other colors are just blankets placed on a red pillow. Actually I prefer red so I like it.2. You need to assemble them yourself if you want them to be good. DO NOT order as a set.3. Q. Why don't you pay extra for the collected blocks? A. The bearings are supplied with virtually no lubrication. Some grease on each bearing. Some replace entire bearings, but that's not necessary if you lubricate them before first use. The bearings are poorly machined but with a healthy lube before first use these chairs are worth the money and spin smoothly and quietly. Q. How are chair bearings lubricated? A. Buy car bearing grease. Before assembling the chair, disassemble the swivel base (the swivel base is always shipped assembled no matter how you buy the chairs) and liberally grease the upper and lower thrust bearings. Do not overtighten the long stem bolt when assembling. I like to tighten it a bit and then twist it. It's usually a little liberating. Tighten it a little, like this. When you notice it's not releasing anymore, let it go a little and that's all you need. Regardless of how you position the bearings, just make sure the balls are in the machined grooves of the thrust bearings. I added 3 pictures. Two show almost no grease from the factory, and the third shows how much grease should be on it.
