Not suitable for installation ABOVE THE TV

This is a good product if you are planning to install something small UNDER OR IN FRONT OF THE SIDE OF THE TV BUT NOT SUITABLE FOR MOUNTING ABOVE THE TV! First you need to attach it to the wall very tightly so that it is strong. But what I really don't like is that there are 2 holes drilled in the glass through which you can put the 2 included black screws that attach the glass to the metal frame that holds the shelf. After the bolts have been slipped through the grommets in the glass and then the metal, the shelf can be secured by threading the nuts onto the bolts. . Once the glass was mounted on the frame, I quickly found that the back edge of the glass shelf was snug against the wall it was attached to. This is not good if someone is planning to use this shelf for a cable box installed ABOVE the TV as there is no way to run cables behind the shelf. I even tried using spacers when I mounted it on the wall, but the shelf just wasn't strong when I mounted it that way. In addition, this shelf is more suitable for small parts than a cable box. Our cable box was 13.5" wide and 9.25" deep (no cables attached). Once the coax and HDMI cables were plugged into the back of the unit, they dangled a few inches off the front edge of the shelf - more than I would have liked. TV/monitor. If you are planning on installing this above your TV just note that the shelf is not designed to allow cables to run behind the shelf to the TV below. That's too bad - all they'd have to do to improve on this design is drill two holes in the glass, half an inch closer to the back edge of the shelf. This means there is half an inch of space between the wall and the back edge of the shelf - enough room to easily run the coaxial HDMI cable through. A small change that I think will make the design better and more comfortable.
