I find Rubbermaid's plastic containers better than most and almost as good as Tupperware. They're not cheap, but they're cheaper than Tupperware. All lids feel snug and Rubbermaid is available in almost any size you want. When rodents started coming into my closet during the cold weather, I bought these Rubbermaid containers and filled them with food that the rodents were after. Not only did this keep the critters out, but it also prevented my food from going stale so quickly. The main problem with plastic is that it will rub off if you store things with tomato sauce etc in it, but it won't shatter into pieces if you drop it. Much better than glass or ceramic if you have kids.
