Review on DAC transistor iFi Audio ZEN DAC V2 by Quan Tran (Louis Trn ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am amazed at how well the product is made, just magically!

Great device, very pleased with the sound. But demanding power headphones "will not pull". Pros below: 1. Sound quality. It is most important. It sounds perfect. 2. Compact, well made. 3. In principle, the intrachannel will swing without an additional power supply, purely via a USB3 cable. 4. The "additional power" (gain) button works funny - it does not so much add power as it expands the scene. However, this is very useful for listening to old and not very high-quality recordings - the sound becomes better and more interesting. Different cons: 1. You must definitely buy an additional iPower v2 power supply (5 volt version) - the sound becomes noticeably better not only for high-impedance headphones, but even for "normal" 30 Ohm intra-channels. 2. The included USB3 cable is very short. In order to normally reach the system unit, you need to buy a longer one separately. 3. The "more bass" button has no noticeable effect on the sound at all. What press it, what not, the sound is about the same. 4. The power of this device is perfectly enough for intraducts. But from the 250-ohm Beyer speaker Amiron Home Zen Dac V2 can no longer “pull out” the sound worthy of these headphones. Not enough power even with the power supply connected. You need to either buy an Ifi Zen Can and make a "bundle", or change it to something else.
