The bottoms of all the plates were brown and mottled as if mold had grown on them before they were dried and made into plates. But since all cymbals are stacked on top of each other, soiling the bottom of the cymbal will affect the top of the next cymbal. Half of the plates looked very dirty on top so I threw away the whole stack of plates. It's a cute idea, but I think I'll stick with regular paper plates. Forks and napkins were ok.
