I've only had the kettle a month so can't comment on its longevity but I can say I like everything about the kettle so far with one small exception. The kettle heats up very quickly. I never have to wait more than 2 minutes to fill a kettle 3/4 full at 195 degrees. And I like touch controls (like a smartphone). There are no "buttons" to worry about water ingress. The interface is very simple and smart. Pressing Temp will cycle through multiple preset temperatures. Simply press until you get closest to your desired temperature, then use the + or - buttons to set the desired temperature. Next time you turn it on, the temperature displayed will be the last one you selected. If, like me, you always use the same temperature, you'll never have to set the temperature again. It has a (Keep Warm) function that keeps the kettle at or near your chosen temperature for an hour. This is a very nice feature as I don't have to stand and look at the temperature. I just start the kettle and do other things while it heats up and then it keeps it at that temperature until I come back (up to an hour I think). When you want to boil water, just touch the boil button. My only minor complaint is that the handle on the lid feels very flimsy and I'm afraid it could easily break, but the handle is easy enough to replace so it's not a big deal. As I said, I can't say anything about the durability of the kettle, but otherwise I would recommend this little gem to everyone. BTW I also think this is one of the nicest teapots around and I like the black finish - I have enough stainless steel that it doesn't leave fingerprints on it.
