Review on SSK M.2 NVME SATA Tool-Free SSD Enclosure Adapter Reader with 10Gbps PCIe and UASP Trim Support by Douglas Irwin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The SSK M.2 NVME SATA SSD enclosure offers high data transfer speeds at a reasonable price.

The tool-less SSK M.2 NVME SATA enclosure is very handy for expanding storage capacity, cloning NVMe or SATA SSDs, or even backing up Android smartphones. USB Type-C to USB Type-A and USB Type-C to USB Type-C cables. Screw, nut and 2 thermal pads are also included. The SSK enclosure is fast, reaching transfer rates in excess of 8.50 Gbps on Windows 10 and 7.6 Gbps on macOS. When the right M.2 drive is plugged into the right USB port, it can deliver very fast data transfer speeds. You can transfer 10GB of data in seconds and 580GB of data in less than ten minutes. The aluminum body is very good and the device is ready to use. The installation design without tools is simple. Insert a small screw in the back and screw a copper nut onto the screw. While temperature isn't an issue, using thermal pads since they're pressed against the metal chassis improves cooling slightly. By the way, although the installation looks easy, the notch of the M.2 SSD must match the groove on the nut or the case won't close. Without tools and screws there are better solutions. A rubber stopper could be used to hold the SSD in place. Those tiny SSD screws fall to the ground and are never found again. Especially on carpet or wooden floors with small holes. I have used computers with USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 3.2 Gen 2 and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. Depending on the USB 3 controller, speeds can vary significantly as USB 3.2 Gen 1 has a maximum speed of 5Gbps, USB 3.2 Gen 2 has a maximum speed of 10Gbps and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 has a maximum speed of 20Gbps. Tested SSDs deliver transfer speeds of over 16 Gb/s. Drives used in the chassis. All tests were performed on Windows 10 and MacBook Pro systems.
