For those who reported only working in mono, I was disappointed to find the same thing. It seemed like it was only stereo if you don't fully insert the headphone jack, just pull it out. So. I bought two and it was on both occasions; I've tried different headphones, so I know it's a USB port and not headphones. Weirdly, I stumbled upon what I believe might be the solution: I fully inserted the headphone jack into the USB adapter BEFORE plugging the adapter into the computer. I heard a crack. I then hooked it up to the PC and now I get stereo when the jack is fully inserted. Please note this product is non-returnable (this is not stated at checkout and really should be - please fix this with Revain).
