No wrong way to hold it.
I gave this to our great granddaughter, who was 6 months at the time, and just cutting her first two front teeth.It was a gift, still in it's plastic and had gotten a little bit chilly in the back seat of the car. When she got her hands on it she put it immediately in her mouth, and seemed to really enjoy the cool of the spoon. No fear about choking on any part of it. We're both happy!
