The first unit I bought seemed to get a little warm but lasted about a year before one of the cables next to the PC connector broke. The cable's outer jacket tore, and then a separate wire broke. This is a stress point for my laptop as the cable needs to be wrapped from the left side of the laptop where the connector is to the right side where the power adapter is plugged in. The second unit is now showing signs of failure after only two months. Plugged in 24/7, the battery indicator started showing "plugged in but not charged". If you mess around with the plug and cables where the previous device failed, it will charge again, but it looks like the cable/plug fails again. This PSU is cheap, but I want reliability!
