I bought the same puzzle for my son 5 years ago. I wanted him to at least know the alphabet before he went to school, but he didn't want to learn it at all. (He has since been diagnosed with a learning disability.) He was very interested in trains and puzzles at the time, so when I saw this puzzle I bought it for him. After playing with him for just a few days, he knew his alphabet! After a few weeks he could already pronounce the alphabet back and forth. And for a month he spoke the alphabet using only the animals that represented each letter, with no gaps (aligator, bear, cat, dog, elephant)! I would definitely recommend this puzzle to anyone teaching a child their ABCs. The one I bought back then lasted a few years but it was time to buy another one for his 2 year old little sister.
