Most Frustrating Rackmount I've Ever Used

You'd think this would be fine for something as simple as rackmounting. No, they tried to come up with something fancy and still be cheap which is why you end up with a poorly designed cheap rack. The biggest and most frustrating thing about this rack are the screws and cage nuts. Only 4 pieces are included. So if you want to secure everything, you're better off with a few extra nuts and bolts. Inside these small mounting brackets are nuts that snap into holes on the post and insert screws into them. Rather they should. Threading those bolts into nuts was one of the most annoying things that I have done for a long time. The first problem is that intervals are disabled. If you try to align the holes by threading the post back into the holes on the bracket, the ones on the bracket are a few mm wider so you'll need to angle one of the screws down at an angle so it catches the threads - if you can catch. I would have taken a picture of it but I ended up attaching it and I won't do it again. Half the time, if you can get a bolt to engage a thread, halfway through it will just twist and twist and twist and not fasten. It bites very easily and then spins. Again and again. Then he sometimes bites so hard that he wants to tear off the nut and completely cut off the holder. In addition, the screws used are made of very soft metal and break easily. The threads on my screws already look twisted. If you want to connect a three-pronged cable (like a PC or something) from the back, you *have* to undo and open the screws on the right side, plug in the cable, and then close and reconnect. If they lowered the rack 1 inch it wouldn't be a problem. This causes longer, three-wire cables to break at the back of the rack. I can understand that a bit, 6 inches is a likely measurement needed for certain things, but it's a tight squeeze. You don't want low profile 18 AWG wire to break. So, yes, this thing works, but gosh, if you can get one for a little bit more, buy it instead. I'd happily pay twice as much for something that actually works properly and isn't that badly designed. I think it's true, you get what you pay for. If they lowered the rack 1 inch it wouldn't be a problem. This causes longer, three-wire cables to break at the back of the rack.
