The mixed reviews of this product's 'ease of use' are well deserved. I bought one, used it with bad results, then bought another and got great results. The finished look - if I actually made it - is very close to stainless steel except for a slight sheen. Here's the trick I learned after my first failure: This product is just a big sticker. But the material is thicker than other types of stickers, and it can actually bend or "tear" (sort of) if you bend it too much. It is also rolled very tightly. These two characteristics make it difficult to apply: when you try to stick it, it tends to roll back on itself and when you try to adjust it, it is very easy to blister or worse, bend it and clog the surface to damage. . When this happens (as it did for me) the finishing becomes a moot point as the result looks like a stainless steel device with deep grooves. The second time, I took a tightly rolled product I had in the mail and hung it on a clothesline indoors for 2 days, attaching a small weight to smooth it out (I wasn't worried about it unwinding Surface material "lifts off" from the backing slightly when it flipped over and it didn't matter). Unlike the first time I stuck it up, it was almost flat and not curled up. Then, starting in the top-right corner of the dishwasher, I gradually peeled the pad at a 45-degree angle (top-right to bottom-left) and pushed diagonally (bottom-right to top-left). .It was MUCH easier than the spray method recommended in the instructions (which didn't help at all for the first round) and gave great results (no wrinkles or bubbles, just an appearance almost indistinguishable from real stainless steel). In the end, as long as you can use it without damaging it, it's a pretty solid product. Hope this helps.
