Perfect alignment is difficult to achieve
I have been an electrician for 16 years. It is almost impossible to mount this lantern flush with the way the lantern attaches to the bracket. You'll need enough room to tighten (or loosen to remove) the thumbscrews, and the bracket that the screws go into is about 1/16th from the edge of the bracket. All you have to do is move it slightly away from the wall to screw in the screws. I will add photos when I can.
