Worse than mediocre

My biggest complaint is the lack of keystone correction - manual or automatic - when using an HDMI source. And you have to use an HDMI source as Android's built-in system is terrible. The automatic keystone correction is fantastic, it works like magic. But only when using the projector's built-in display capabilities. Whenever you switch to HDMI input, the projector loses all keystone correction and cannot be adjusted. The built-in Android OS is very outdated and poorly maintained. Many major streaming services don't even support it (i.e. their apps aren't available in the Play Store from this device). The device's built-in WiFi is very poor, so I couldn't play anything even on apps that work like Netflix. It only loaded for a few minutes before finally giving me an error. A Chromecast connected to a device within 3 inches has no Wi-Fi issues. The remote works, which is a nice improvement over the previous Akaso projector I had, but it's IR and as far as I can tell the receiver is on the back of the unit. The picture quality with built-in features is excellent, crisp and easy to read. But somehow the HDMI input is pixelated and small text can be very difficult to read. This doesn't have a huge impact on video quality (although you should be careful about using fine print for your subtitles), but it does make menu navigation on an HDMI device a bit awkward (a Chromecast running Google TV in my case). Overall, I'm just really disappointed with it. If they only worked Keystone on HDMI I would give it 4 stars. If they did that and had HDMI with the same visual quality as built in, that would be 5 stars. But as it is, it's a $250 disappointment that hardly does its job well enough that I'm not motivated enough to return it. Beware.

Pros
  • ๐ŸŽPortable Projector ---- Advanced DLP (0.3 DMD Optical Processing Chip) technology delivers vivid colors and crystal clear images (50 ANSI lumens). With the RGB LED lamp, soft lighting protects your eyes from glare, radiation and eye injuries. Recommended for use in dark environments.
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Accepts 1080 input, does not give 1080 output
