They are great for camping. They are double-walled and therefore keep the coffee warm a few minutes longer than single-walled metal camping mugs. The heat didn't last long but I wanted to have breakfast and go to the beach so I didn't mind. (Edit: I'm on a hike again, this time deep in the woods to avoid catching the force of the wind off the lake, and my coffee stays warmer in my heaviest ceramic mug longer than it does at home. I'm impressed.) With a wind that blowing from the lake, only a few cups would keep something warm for a long time. They are durable and easy to clean which is what I've been looking for in camping mugs.
