The main reason I bought this apron was that I didn't like the feel of aprons worn around the neck. I always felt like they were pulling my head down. This cross-backed apron is more like backpack straps. It's a nice thick material and it's easy to adjust how high on your chest you wear it, which is nice, and the pockets come in handy, especially when you're grilling out and walking back and forth between the kitchen and the street. Bought black with red stripes. I like that the red is a little visible, but the red lines are thin enough that I don't always worry about ending up with huge blemishes (well, I probably will, after all). There are just two notes: 1. Since this was my first crossed apron, it took me a while to get used to it. The first few times I fiddled with it, trying to figure out how to put it on without having to completely undo and re-tie the straps. A word of caution, if you like wrapping straps to tie them and your size is above average, this may not be for you. I'm 5'10", 175 pounds, 34" waist, and I can wrap the straps in the front and tie them, but with difficulty. And I like to wear an apron high on my chest so that the straps don't hang down. and in front of my shoulders. If you don't mind tying it at the back then I think the length won't be an issue for 99% of the cooks out there.
