Review on Cuisinart DLC 8SBCY Custom Processor Brushed by Richard Gross

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The pusher socket is weak, confusing, unhygienic and annoying

I have been using this model 11 cup stand mixer for 10 years now and swap out parts as needed and the base twice for a total of 3 machines in 10 years. I use it professionally on a daily basis (although it is labeled 'Pro' and advertised as 'for the cook', the warranty does not cover professional use, only home use.) The machine itself does the job and is excellent I highly recommend it, but they've made major design changes to this latest model and it's terrible. Instead of just doing it with a lid and a food slider, they created a lid that requires a "slider bushing," which is an awkward contraption that's difficult to clean and made of very brittle plastic that has a slit in it MUST connect to the engine. Of course, as we predicted the moment we saw it, the part broke after a month of use, right after it could be returned under Revain's generous policy. Getting a new one is expensive and I'm afraid we'll repeat that several times since Cuisinart doesn't offer any options for the car at all, according to a company rep I spoke to over the phone. They don't have a feedback mechanism so I got the impression that they don't care what the customer thinks about the product. We've continued this line so we can reuse parts from previous models that are still in good condition, but next time that part (or any part) breaks I'll bite the bullet and buy a completely different brand . It might not be such a big deal for a home user, but when I saw this new part I groaned internally because I knew it would break after a few uses, even at home, and I don't even want to change it. for the ones I use at home due to this problem. The experience was much more frustrating than it should be as the company will not help me with this issue or help me find a suitable replacement (they were not at all interested in my experiences. When I asked for help finding a machine bat we could use, she just advised me to go on the site and see what might suit me) or listen to reviews.

Pros
  • Household and kitchen
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
