Review on CIPA 11140 Safety Rearview Marine by Carlos Damain

This rearview mirror has a design that fits my small boat perfectly. I attached it to the windshield and there was perfect rear visibility. However, the plastic collar was too weak and began to loosen. It ripped (see photo) when I tightened it after a few hours of use. Instead of sending it back I modified it with a piece of aluminum. The two clamp screws are now threaded through the aluminum (10/32) and seem to be working much better. All of the distribution pressure is on the aluminum, not the plastic. But if you do not want to do this or that modification of this mirror, I would not recommend it. The plastic clip will most likely break and fail completely after a short time.
