Needed to connect my Xbox One with PC speakers to a monitor that doesn't have HDMI audio out or built in speakers. It seems that the matter is in decent sound quality through optical. The volume is a bit quieter, so I had to turn the volume up a bit, but that doesn't really bother me. Please note that Netflix is unlikely to work through this adapter as it requires HDMI Protected Channel (hdcp) to prevent audio or video from being copied from a source in order to copy it. I don't need it because I use my desktop for Netflix anyway. Overall I'm happy with the price that I can now get full use of my Xbox One with my computer's monitor and speakers. Let's see how long this lasts
