It's always nice to have a car battery charger at home just in case. I think we've all had the experience of trying to start the car for work in the morning and realizing the car battery was dead (which usually happens with older cars when we forget to turn off the headlights, or if we have used the air conditioning for too long without the engine running, or the charge in the battery is simply too low because we have not used the car for too long). I used to start a car with a dead battery from another car, but sometimes it's really not easy. My friend told me that I could just use a 12v charger to make things easier, so I bought an LST 5 Amp 12v car charger. Includes an EPA1205 charger for all 12v batteries, a DC output cable with screw terminals, a direct current. Output cable with ring terminals and instruction manual. It's nice that it comes with two different types of connectors so I can use it with other types of batteries if needed. This charger requires an AC outlet to operate and is capable of charging the battery at a rate of 5A. The charger has indicator lights that show the current status as well as the target battery level. I tried this charger on my Mazda CX7 and it worked as expected. I connected power (red) to the positive battery post and ground (black) to the negative battery post and that was it. This charger showed the current charge status of the battery and started the charging process. The charger automatically switches to trickle charge mode when the battery is fully charged. It's worth noting that this charger has an IP65 rating, which means it's protected from dust and splashing water. It's nice to know that the device is safe to use outdoors (although I probably won't use it in the rain as it's only IP65 rated).
