I bought different brands of tampons in the same price range to see if what I used (Canson XL) would be the best ( Unfortunately Arches is not in my price range) Pros: This paper is significantly whiter than any other paper I have seen. The texture is a cold press style dimple on the front of each sheet, but interestingly the back is smooth hot press style. This makes it a great training mat as both textures give different results. However, if you are using watercolor, this paper is NOT suitable for lightening the color. It may take a few swipes with a soft brush, but that's it - either a hard brush or more than 3-4 swipes will also start lifting the paper (I found this to be true of Strathmore as well, but not as bad as this one ). The Bee has a great price on 6x9 paper, but for cheap large notebooks, the Canson XL still leads the way.
