Review on πŸš— Enhance Your Ride's Performance with the Monroe SA1997 Shock-Mate Shock Absorber Boot Kit by Ryan Turner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good quality cover but didn't realize the KYB steering damper didn't have room for a cover

The cover was great quality but when I ordered the steering damper from KYB I didn't realize it didn't have one correct position for the boot. This is odd as the shock is truck rated and every other shock/shock I've ever bought has had a trunk. The only exception are shock absorbers/shock absorbers that already have a protector at the end of the stem. For example Old Man Emu. Again, the boots were of great quality! I'll probably change the shock in a few months and switch to one geared towards the 4x4 industry. Then I can use the boot! In case anyone doesn't know what I mean by "boot position" there is a rod end and a tube end. The end of the tube is the thick end that contains the piston, seal, oil, etc. The end of the shaft has a chromed metal rod that goes in and out of the tube. The end of the tube usually has a round metal plate about 1.5 inches in diameter. It mounts where the stem is welded into the "eye" (large hole at the end of the shock). The thick end of the boot slips onto the cylinder (tube) and secures with a zipper, and the smaller end has a fold that appears to slide around the round flat metal at the end of the pole. The shroud protects the stem from debris, dirt, mud, water, etc. and generally prolongs shock absorber/damper life.

Pros
  • Shock absorber
Cons
  • Expensive
