I went through airport security and followed TSA instructions which not only required me to take my 14 month old girl out of her stroller, but also from me so I take my hands from her. She immediately ran away. TSA didn't want to help, but a very nice deputy sheriff who was nearby ran after her and grabbed her for me. That's when I realized that a children's leash is not only a convenience, but also a safety measure. It also gives my daughter more freedom. If she wasn't wearing it, she would get stuck in a shopping cart or stroller, unable to escape. This one. With this look that wraps around the wrist, it's more like you're holding a child's hand. It also looks less like a leash than one that attaches to a child's back, if you're going to bother judgmental naysayers (many people are intimidated by children's leashes). It's nice to have a few of these. I like to keep one in my purse and have a spare in the car just in case.
