Review on Westcott iPoint Ball Battery Pencil Sharpener: πŸ–οΈ Red/Black (15570) - Efficient Sharpening for Precision Writing Instruments by Angela Rodriguez

Small and portable but mostly useless and cluttered

I bought it twice and won't buy it again. The first purchase was based on size and portability. I needed a compact, portable, battery operated (ie no shave marks) sharpener for my study bag. My students and I use pencils a lot on the piano, and I find it more professional to have your own sharpener than to rely on students and their parents to have one for home use. This device fits perfectly in the pocket of my bag and made me feel like Mary Poppins sharpening pencils in front of students who didn't know I had a sharpener hidden in my magic bag! However, at one point I had to take it out so I could empty it. Turns out the chip tray (read: GARBAGE) just falls out on its own, scattering chips everywhere. Well, that sucks, I thought and put it back in my pocket. Next time the same. After a while I wrapped the tray and block with an elastic band. The next day a pencil tip broke off in this thing and there's no way we can get it out. So I threw it away and replaced it with the same one. Of course, the same design flaws. I decided to just sharpen my pencils at home and carry around more pencils at a time. Well, then I found out that with this thing on the counter, you can sharpen pencils with two hands: one hand holds the pencil still, doesn't rotate and actually sharpens, and the other hand keeps the sharpener steady on the counter. . yes no thanks I ended up replacing the second unit with an automatic and rechargeable (and adjustable, who would have thought?) sharpener from OfficeWorld, which I found here at Revain: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QG75SGB/ and I have given it a well deserved 5-star rating.
