After our old electric sharpener broke we were looking for an affordable, fully functional pencil sharpener. This one went pretty well! Pros: Battery operated: so it can go anywhere kids ever work. Durable: It doesn't move all over the table when in use. Sharpens: Perhaps the most important feature, this little machine does an excellent job. I bought it twice and won't buy it again. The first purchase was based on size and portability. I needed a compact, portable, battery operated (ie no shave marks) sharpener for my study bag. My students and I use pencils a lot on the piano, and I find it more professional to have your own sharpener than to rely on students and their parents to have one for home use.
