Not all Egyptian cotton is created equal

We renovated our bathroom last summer and I was thrilled to buy new face towels and wipes. I have literally spent hours and hours searching for the towel industry's "Holy Grail". All my research pointed to Egyptian cotton. It should be softer, more durable and more resistant to fading. I have placed 5 separate orders within a few weeks. My total cost was about $220. When my towels arrived I was dying to try them but like my grandmother used to say. Make sure you wash your towels before using them. After washing the first set, I noticed that a few threads of the fabric had ripped. It was a terrible mess. My husband had to cut the stretched threads of the material BEFORE we tried them on. The bath towels were a bit soft but most of all they were so heavy. They weren't easy to manoeuvre. Prolonged washing resulted in the threads being pulled tighter. Now the color is fading. What used to be a beautiful blue color has now turned into a solid mess. We were beginning to despise those towels. I will ask the company for my money.
