Not all Egyptian cotton is created equal

We renovated our bathroom last summer and I was thrilled to buy new face towels and wipes. I have literally spent hours and hours searching for the towel industry's "Holy Grail". All my research pointed to Egyptian cotton. It should be softer, more durable and more resistant to fading. I have placed 5 separate orders within a few weeks. My total cost was about $220. When my towels arrived I was dying to try them but like my grandmother used to say. Make sure you wash your towels before usingโ€ฆ

'Better than hotel quality'

We bought six of these when we introduced short term rentals and are very happy with the investment. Customers comment in their reviews that sheets and towels are "better than any hotel I've stayed in." Towels and washcloths withstood up to three months of use with frequent washing. Since washcloths are more likely to be abused by guests, we have ordered more washcloths of the same type from Superior. a second rinse with baking soda to neutralize the vinegar. This should help make them as softโ€ฆ

Next time Turkish cotton

First impression does not match the description on the site nor many of the reviews. If they get softer and taller after washing, as suggested by the seller, I'll raise my rating. I will compare them to FrontGate Turkish cotton towels. FrontGate: They cost an arm and a leg. and another hand. Unusually soft and thick when new; The softness remains but the thickness melts away with the wash. The hinges are so tight (good) that I need a magnifying glass to see they aren't single row. The colorsโ€ฆ

Weight really matters!

Five or six years ago I ordered three sets of 6 towels from Revain. They were all Egyptian cotton, one set weighed 600 grams, one set 725 grams and the third set weighed 900 grams. The difference was huge. I immediately returned the 600g Egyptian cotton towel set as it was significantly worse. a whole different league. Please note on the left of the image the premium 900gm Egyptian cotton towels in Forest Green are 5 years old. Next to it is a set of Plum 725 gram Pinzon towels (both setsโ€ฆ

Very thick, absorbent but NOT soft, lots of lint after multiple washes and bindings/defects start right away

I will compare these towels to the top 3 towels I own. 1) Vera Vera Wang Signature Plain Bath Towel, 2) Premier Ultra Plush Towels from walmart.com (not available in stores) and 3) regular cheap towels my parents had as a kid. First, you can't beat Vera Wang towels: incredibly soft, well made, thick, extremely absorbent, high quality and durable. I've been wearing mine for over 5 years with no fading, pilling or stringing. They are beautiful. Unfortunately, they are no longer available in black
